About Us

Family business – Andy answers the phones himself and delivers most orders in the south personally with the two day sleeper van. If we are busy we use DHE to deliver as well as Andy, DHE are also a Felixstowe based family business so we never let any one down.

Established in 1983 as a traditional high street kitchen showroom selling direct to the public, Specialist Studio Kitchen Distribution (S.S.K.D.) became a distributor to the trade in 1995 supplying kitchen showrooms, builders and developers throughout East Anglia. The Selffit Internet Shop was set up in 2004 by Andy Proctor who wanted to reach a wider audience by buying direct and cutting out showroom commissions and costs.

Low overheads and buying kitchens direct from the manufacturer mean that Selffit can offer very competitive rates for online customers. Committed to quality and service, a damage free delivery with no return costs means that rates are discounted even further and savings passed onto the customer closing the high street showroom in 2005.

Chris Proctor has now retired after successfully building up the business leaving his wife Wendy and son Andy in charge of the new Internet business. Due to increased sales volume, Andy's brother Steve is now helping out as delivery driver. Brought up in Plymouth Chris moved to Barking Tye in Suffolk as a child. Wendy is a Suffolk girl and has always lived in the Ipswich and Felixstowe area and has great affection for all things Suffolk. Wendy's spends her spare time looking after Duke, a lovable Suffolk Punch at over 17 hands high. After leaving school Andy spent six years with a national supermarket chain in electrical mechanical services, then one year with a construction company leaving to join the family business in 1993. His knowledge of the kitchen product range is phenomenal and knows every product code, specification and quantity from memory.

Andy admits the recent online success has been due to a great web site from Feature3.net with online pricing, the kitchen manufacturer’s ability to supply one hundred percent damage free orders and his commitment to providing a personal, one to one service keeping small enough to know about every order. S.S.K.D. provides a personal delivery service for all kitchens in the south of the country and from the manufacturer direct in the north. Worktops have taken off in a big way with delivery restricted to the south of England for the moment. Success is due to a great laminate worktop manufacturer and supplier that personally collect un-wrap and check all worktops at source.

While Chris may not understand computers he does understand people and kitchens and the need to deliver a promise. He has passed this knowledge and ethos onto Andy who always puts the customer first. Wendy handles the books and accounting and also has her own small order van calling herself the fast order driver! When you contact the team you will get an honest answer, they will tell you what they can do immediately and promise to stick to it.
